SALISBURY & DISTRICT

BADMINTON ASSOCIATION

Affiliated to the Wiltshire County B.A. and the Badm inton Association of England

THE RULES OF THE ASSOCIATION

1 Name

The name of the Association shall be the 'Salisbury & District Badminton Association', hereinafter called

the 'Association'.

2 Objects

a. The objects of the Association shall be to promote the game of badminton in the area.

b. To organise competitive leagues in the area.

c. To organise tournaments.

3 Membership

Membership shall be open to clubs within a radius of 15 miles of the centre of Salisbury. The committee

can, at their discretion, accept clubs from outside this area on their merit and circumstances. (Amended

4. Officers

The Officers and Committee Members of the Association shall be elected at the Annual General Meeting,

and shall hold office until the next Annual General Meeting. Anyone shall be eligible for re-election. All

nominations must be submitted to the Secretary at least seven days before the Annual General Meeting.

Officers shall include a Chairman, Secretary, Treasurer, and other such Officers as may be decided at the

Annual General Meeting. (Amended 12/04/1988)

5. Committee

The management of the Association shall be vested in a Committee consisting of the Officers and six

members of affiliated clubs, and hold office for one year. No more than two members, other than an

Officer, shall be elected from the same club. (Amended 28/04/2004)

6. Sub-Committees

The Annual General Meeting, and 1 or General Committee, may appoint sub-committees as required, and

not necessarily consist of members of the General Committee.

7. Annual General Meetings

a. The Annual General Meeting shall be held before 31 May in each year. (Amended

28/04/2004)

b. All members of affiliated clubs shall be entitled to attend, but voting shall be by one

nominated member from each club.

c. The agenda shall be sent to the Secretary of each club at least twenty-eight days prior to the

Annual General Meeting.

d. 50% of delegates entitled to vote shall form a quorum. (Amended 28/04/2004)

e. Voting shall be by show of hands unless four members demand a secret ballot. In the event

of equal voting, the Chairman shall have a vote.

f. A club not being represented in person at an Association Annual General, or Extraordinary

General, Meeting shall incur a financial penalty. The financial penalty to be fixed by the

Association Committee. (Added 28/04/2004)

8. Affiliation Fees

The annual fees payable by each club to the Association shall be decided by the Annual General Meeting,

and be payable forthwith. All clubs affiliated to the Association are also required to be affiliated to the

Wiltshire County Badminton Association, or if the club resides outside of Wiltshire, to the County

Badminton Association in which the club venue is situated. (Amended 10/04/1976)

9. Alteration of Rules

The Rules of the Association may only be altered at the Annual General Meeting. At least one calendar

months notice of any proposed alterations shall be given to the Secretary so as to be placed on the

Agenda.
